PLAY TIME IN THE YARD

It's always interesting to try to help an 11 week old puppy use up all his energy outside so he'll chill out inside! The newest fun we have with Ozzy is with an empty Pepsi bottle. He loves chasing it around the yard. Run, Pounce, bite, carry, roll around, repeat.... Very cute! I can't seem to be able to walk around my yard barefoot however as he chases my feet and bites my toes. Anyone have any suggestions to get this behavior to stop? I know that you can substitute other toys to replace things you don't want them chew up but what if he doesn't get distracted and keeps coming back for the toes? HELP!!!!
We've been having a lot of thunderstorms lately and Ozzy doesn't like them so much. This morning, I decided during a severe storm at 4:15 a.m. today, I didn't want to be laying in bed beside a south facing window when I heard the wind, rain and hail pounding against them. I got dressed and headed towards our basement just to relax away from windows but Ozzy was whining. I couldn't just leave him up here so I took him out of his kennel to bring downstairs with me. Of course, then he needed to go outside.... In the thunderstorm, Dave took him out the back yard. It was very dark and Dave lost sight of him for a minute. We thought that perhaps he had ran to the front door so I ran back upstairs to check. Dave yelled up the stairs that Oz had come back into the basement door. Of course, then the storm had mostly passed. Wow, what fun that was.
Since I overslept this morning and went to work late, I couldn't come home for lunch like normal. But since Dave went into work early, he came home early so it all worked out. Oz and Dave had already taken a walk by the time I returned home. Keeping this puppy exercised and entertained is a lot of work but totally worth it. I can almost can feel the muscles getting firm in my legs already!!! Enjoying my time with the little stinker!
I got looking at the fat cats last night and decided to weigh them. Holy, moly, Ernie is now 22 pounds!!! Bert is 19!!! Hard to believe they used to be the little kittens pictured above. Bert has been eating fast and throwing up his food much more than he used to. I think he is stressed more than we realized with the puppy in the house. Last night Bert growled and hissed at Ozzy but Oz didn't seem fazed. Ernie just is taking this strange, wiggly, puppy in stride. Overall, I still think the pet dynamic is going well!
